This week's resignations of 4 A and E consultants at the Alex. follows years of uncertainty about the future of their department. Save the Alex and Bromsgrove Liberal Democrats have been concerned about the provision of local hospital services for some time and Save the Alex are organising a quiet protest gathering at 9,30 on 25th February outside the Kidderminster Hospital where the Trust is holding its next meeting. Do use this opportunity to show your support for the Alex.

Professional medical staff in this area deserve and need our support and we are writing to the CCG and the Worcs. Hospital Trust to express our concern. A and E is not as popular as some specialisms but it is not impossible to train sufficient numbers of doctors to meet the needs of an area like ours. A review of exactly what made 4 experienced senior doctors leave the Alex.for Warwick must now be launched. Redditch and Bromsgrove residents want and need A and E locally, have confidence in our hospital and will support any sensible way of retaining services here.

Both Bromsgrove and Redditch are going to see their populations increase in the next few years due to local growth and Birmingham overspill In an industrial area like Redditch and with projected population growth in both towns local hospital services including A and E must be well staffed and properly funded and above all know that their future is secure.
