After years of lack of investment, the Bromsgrove Liberal Democrats are calling on Worcestershire County Council to use the one-off windfall from the sale of the old library to invest in Bromsgrove High Street.

Bromsgrove District Council are looking to purchase the Windsor Street site from Worcestershire County Council as part of their wider regeneration plans, with the Bromsgrove Liberal Democrats calling on that windfall of money to be used to completely regenerate the High Street to make it a more appealing place to shop and help boost local businesses; instead of the money being spent in other parts of Worcestershire.

Cllr Josh Robinson, whose division of Bromsgrove Central at Worcestershire County Council covers the High Street said, 'Since being elected last May, the High Street has been a top priority for me, I receive letters, emails and have conversations on a weekly basis from residents concerned about the High Street. The issues are varied, from the utility companies ripping up the stones, to tarmac being put in drains, and a serious of lights that do not work, the list is long. By using the money from the sale of the old library we could make our town look nice and attractive for visitors and ensure our High Street thrives in the future.'

Cllr Siobhan Robinson, whose ward covers the old library at Bromsgrove District Council added, 'For years the site on Windsor Street has been an eye-sore and we have struggled to get someone into the site to re-develop it. With the news of the money from Government, we are now not only in a place to re-develop that site, but we will also have further money we could use on our town centre. Working with Cllr Josh Robinson and the wider Lib Dem team, I am glad to see since being elected, we have seen some improvements to the town we have been lobbying for, like improved recycling bins and the series of lights on the Worcester Road.'
