Save Our Bus Service
Bromsgrove Liberal Democrats have backed local residents petition to save the 145 bus service from cutbacks.
The changes will mean that the new service will not serve all of Stoke Prior or continue onto Wychbold and Droitwich, as well as being less frequent on the new route. The changes have come as a shock to local residents and the local district councillor who have been given just over a month until the changes come into effect.
David Nicholl, Lib Dem councillor for Avoncroft which includes Stoke Prior said;
“The 145 bus is a lifeline to so many local people. Without it people will be cut off from shops, services, medical appointments, and even friends and family.”
“The Lib Dems will not stand by and let this service be lost forever. Local residents have launched a petition and we urge people to sign this. We also call on every resident in Stoke Prior and beyond to write to the county council asking for them to step in and save this vital route.”
“The Conservatives have boasted recently of improvements to bus travel in the area yet this flies in the face of this claim. They need to step in now, save the bus service and ensure local residents are not worried over Christmas about how they will get to work, education and appointments in the new year.”
“We understand that no-one wants to the reduce bus services, and bus operators are under significant pressure at the moment. However we simply cannot stand by and let a vital service be lost in Stoke Prior that hundreds of people rely on.”
“We would encourage all local residents to sign the petition as soon as possible. The more signatures we have the more weight the petition will hold.”
