Public Toilets Must Reopen Swiftly and Safely
Bromsgrove Lib Dems have called for public toilets in the town centre to reopen swiftly and safely in line with government advice.
The calls follow a statement from the Government last month identifying such decisions are for local councils, but the Government expressed "we strongly encourage them to open".
Cllr Rob Hunter, who represents Norton and Lickey End, thanked local businesses and council officers for their efforts in getting the town centre up and running again safely, however he expressed that in light of this it is essential that public toilets reopen.
Cllr Hunter said: "I understand council officers are working on this but we need to see action as soon as possible. There are some people that may be placed at a disadvantage by this and at a time when we are trying to encourage people to shop local closing the toilets does not help to make our high street appealing when toilets are open at large stores."
His calls were echoed by local campaigner and Lib Dem Chair Josh Robinson, who works on the High Street.
Josh added: "As shops and our market have reopened it is vital that public toilets do so swiftly. Bromsgrove Lib Dems urge that this is done safely and with additional cleaning protocols in place."
