Local Pubs Urged to Seek Support Grants
Long suffering pubs in Bromsgrove are being urged to check if they are eligible for a belated Christmas support grant before it's too late.
Bromsgrove Lib Dems have issued the call after it was revealed at a council meeting on Wednesday 20 January that no pubs in Bromsgrove had received the grant yet, despite the government making funds available.
The grants of £1,000 are available to traditional 'wet-led' pubs where you can purchase a drink from the bar. Landlords that think they might be eligible are urged to get their application in as soon as possible before the deadline on January 31.
Cllr Rob Hunter who is a member of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and represents Norton and Lickey End ward used last Wednesday's meeting to question why none of the grants had been paid out yet.
Cllr Hunter said 'this has been a truly dreadful time for our pubs. Even when they were able to open footfall was significantly lower because of the restrictions. Our pubs play a key role at the heart of communities and we must make sure we do everything we can to help them through these difficult times.'
