Lib Dems Launch Plans for a Greener Bromsgrove
Following the news that the top 6 councils in the country for recycling are all run by Liberal Democrats, Bromsgrove's Lib Dem candidates have set out their plans to make our area cleaner and greener.
Cllr. Rob Hunter, Lib Dem group leader said: "Our Lib Dem councillors in Bromsgrove have a proven track record when it comes to tackling the Climate Emergency. We brought forward the motion to Bromsgrove District Council to declare a Climate Emergency in 2019 and set up a cross party working group to reduce Bromsgrove's carbon footprint. We are committed to continue this work with renewed urgency, and we will work to make Bromsgrove cleaner and greener."
A Lib Dem led council would introduce a collection of household food waste to increase composting and reduce the need to incinerate waste, as well as increasing the number of public litter bins that provide a recycling option.
Lib Dems would also undertake a programme of tree planting and planting of wild flower meadows.
The party would also retrofit the most inefficient homes with better insulation and low carbon heat sources, and continue the district heating programme.
To cut congestion, reduce pollution and boost public health, a Lib Dem led council would promote better active travel opportunities and would strive to make our communities safer for cyclists including ensuring all council facilities have bike racks.
Cllr Hunter added : "Lib Dems have a proven track record for improving our environment, be that our action locally, or our role in Government where we nearly tripled renewable energy and introduced the Green Investment Bank, or by Lib Dem run councils across our country which rank as the best for recycling."
"We face a clear choice in the upcoming local elections. For a cleaner and greener Bromsgrove, back the Lib Dem plan on 4th May."
