Lib Dems Deliver on Key Climate Pledge

The Liberal Democrats have hit the ground running following May's local elections, by delivering on one of their key promises. In this year's local elections the party elected its first ever county councillor in Bromsgrove, Joshua Robinson.

Josh, who represents Bromsgrove Central made pushing the Council into declaring a Climate Emergency a key pledge in his election campaign, which was delivered on Thursday 15 July when a Lib Dem proposed motion on the issue made its way to a full council meeting.

County Group

Worcestershire County Council agreed to declare a Climate Emergency, however the ruling Conservative group amended the motion to extend the date for the county to be carbon neutral to 2050.

Cllr. Josh Robinson said: "One of the Lib Dems' main commitments when getting elected was to declare a Climate Emergency at Worcestershire County Council, just like we did at Bromsgrove District Council when we were elected 2 years ago. I am disappointed by the Conservatives only promising to become carbon neutral by 2050 but the fight goes on to do it sooner."
