Lib Dem Councillor Welcomes New Recycling Bins

25 Jan 2021

Lib Dem Councillor Siobhan Robinson (formerly Hughes), who represents Bromsgrove Central was delighted to see that new recycling bins have been installed on Bromsgrove High Street.

Siobhan said: "I along with other Lib Dem colleagues have been calling for recycling bins on our high street for nearly two years now. I am glad to see the Conservatives now agree with us in the need for these after originally refusing to put them on our High Street."

There are now numerous recycling bins on the High Street which give shoppers the opportunity to recycle their rubbish and reduce waste.

Councillor Robinson added: "When I proposed the climate emergency motion at Bromsgrove District Council, I was happy to see it got unanimous support but have since been disappointed at the lack of actions to make our town carbon neutral so I hope this is a step-change by the leading group that will enable us to become carbon neutral as soon as possible.'

Fellow Lib Dem campaigner Josh Robinson, who works on the high street added: "This is a great start to making Bromsgrove greener but we must go further. We should now be looking at food waste composting as part of household collections as soon as possible."
