Extra money for our schools?

Government bows to pressure from teachers and campaigners to give schools more money!

During the recent election local Lib Dems were putting pressure on the Government to ensure more money was given to local schools. If the Conservatives plans from the election had been implemented, it would have meant real cuts for our local schools, at a time when they need it most.

Local Liberal Democrats put forward a plan at the election which would have ensured extra money would be given to schools, meaning a real terms increase in spending. After a lot of pressure there has been a slight increase in spending for schools announced from the Government now. Whilst the local Lib Dems welcome this change of heart from the Government, this still represents a real terms cut in the long term.

Bromsgrove Liberal Democrats are pleased to see some movement in the right direction and some relief for hard-pressed local schools, we will continue to fight for every extra pound, to ensure our children have the best possible start.
