Reacting to Worcestershire County Council's disappointing red lines on active travel, Bromsgrove Lib Dems have challenged the ruling Conservative group to be more ambitious.

Journalist and TV presenter Jeremy Vine drew attention to the County Council's red lines of 'no loss of road space' and 'no loss of parking spaces', by saying "I'm hoping this is a joke of some sort."

Josh Robinson, a local Lib Dem campaigner and frequent cyclist expressed that he shared the concerns raised by Jeremy Vine and hit out at the Council for not following their own party's advice from government, which specifically calls for road space being given up for cycling routes.

He said: "I am disappointed by the red lines drawn by the County Council which hamper efforts in increasing opportunities for cycling and walking across Bromsgrove. Last month we missed out on thousands of pounds to improve active travel after the Council put in a poor bid for the Government's Emergency Active Travel Fund."

Josh's concerns were shared by fellow local campaigner Sam Evans.

Sam added: "We need more ambition from our County Council on improving active travel. If we provide more incentives for people to walk or cycle we can tackle the climate emergency whilst boosting public health and reducing congestion on our roads."
