Councillors Welcome Bid for All Electric Bus

Councillors have welcomed news that Worcestershire County Council have backed a bid for an all electric bus in Bromsgrove.

Councillor Siobhan Hughes, who represents Bromsgrove Central, expressed that she was pleased with the news that will help boost the town's green credentials.

The Lib Dem councillor received cross-party support for her motion last year that saw Bromsgrove District Council declare a Climate Emergency and establish a climate change working group. In her calls to establish the group she identified the need for electric transport in the town to help make Bromsgrove carbon neutral.

Cllr Hughes said: "When I proposed the motion for Bromsgrove to become carbon neutral I stressed the importance of looking at vehicles and the pollution they cause. I am glad to see the County have agreed with us and have put in an ambitious bid to make buses in our town electric."

Bromsgrove Lib Dems councillor for Lickey Hills, Janet King also welcomed the news, expressing that it is a significant step forward for Bromsgrove in doing its bit to fight the climate emergency.

She added: "This very welcome news which will make bus travel much more popular in Bromsgrove and makes it even more important to retain all our local bus services."
