Bromsgrove District Council prefers to cut Artrix funding rather than increase council tax.

The Artrix , Bromsgrove's popular community arts centre, has lost half its Bromsgrove District Council funding (£60,000) and is in danger of having to reduce its youth work at a time when youth services throughout the County are being cut. Last week Bromsgrove District Council voted virtually unanimously to freeze its council tax precept! They also chose to take £63,000 from reserves. Why? There have been no local objections to funding the Artix and residents are generally not against a small council tax increase if it is used for the community. We suggest that councillors think again about how they spend our money and that voters allow a Liberal Democrat councillor into the council to be the voice of good sense!.
