Bromsgrove Council Tells Chancellor of Exchequer to Help Out Excluded Businesses

19 Sep 2020

The Conservative Leader of Bromsgrove District Council has agreed to write to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, to request more help for local businesses that have been excluded from the Government's Business Support Scheme.

The move comes after the Lib Dem group highlighted a number of local businesses who were not able to access support through any of the Government's support schemes. Group Leader Cllr Rob Hunter submitted a motion calling on the Council to take action, but in the end it was not debated because the ruling Conservative Group agreed to support it.

Cllr Hunter said: "I'm very grateful to the Conservatives for accepting the motion and agreeing to lobby government to help local businesses that have been left high and dry. This is a great example of cross-party working, putting the needs of the people of Bromsgrove first."
